Laura Weiland, President

Laura has been assisting household employers since 1999 and has owned The Nanny Tax Company since 2012. With extensive experience in navigating the complex household employment tax process, she is dedicated to delivering exceptional and cost-effective service to her clients.

Over the years, Laura has tackled numerous issues with various government agencies, always aiming to simplify the process for her clients and help them avoid complications.

Her expertise has been featured in the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and other publications. Laura has also conducted seminars on nanny tax compliance for organizations such as the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, the Chicago Latin School and Chapman and Cutler LLP. Judy Connolly, Director of Operations

Judy handles the registration of new clients and oversees the tax preparation process. With over 10 years of experience as a city planner working with state and local authorities, she expertly navigates nanny tax procedures and manages government inquiries. Her strong rapport with clients and government officials ensures a smooth and efficient process.

Judy joined The Nanny Tax Company in 2008. She holds a Master’s in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago and a BA from Northern Illinois University.

Sharon Connolly, Director of Data and Analytics

Sharon manages the availability and accuracy of all confidential client, tax, and government data. She continually seeks ways to simplify and streamline our processes, ensuring maximum efficiency and ease for our clients. With over 10 years of experience in database management and analysis, along with more than 20 years in customer service, Sharon joined The Nanny Tax Company in 2011. Sharon holds a BS from Northern Illinois University.

Sheila Connolly, Director of Client Services

Sheila handles client inquiries and responds to government notices with expertise. Known for her problem-solving skills, she diligently resolves issues from government agencies and keeps processes on schedule, thus increasing client satisfaction. With over 20 years of experience in customer service, inquiry resolution, and process management, Sheila joined The Nanny Tax Company in 2012. Sheila holds a BA from Roosevelt University.

Arthur Ellis, Founder

Arthur Ellis founded The Nanny Tax Company in 1995 and is widely recognized as a leading expert in nanny taxes. His insights have been featured in prominent publications, including The New York Times, Crain’s Chicago Business, the Chicago Sun-Times, and Windy City Baby. Arthur has also presented on nanny tax issues to various organizations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Tax Subcommittee of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, Winston & Strawn, Kirkland & Ellis, and the Chicago Latin School. Arthur holds a JD from Boston University and both an MA and BA from the University of Chicago.

Kodi, Office Dog

Kodi joined the Connolly Clan in May 2012 and started working with The Nanny Tax Company shortly after. As the office morale and wellness coordinator, she ensured a positive atmosphere. She enjoyed observing the outside world and investigating any sounds.
