Meet The Nanny Tax Company Team

Established in 1995, The Nanny Tax Company is a small family owned business. Our family knows it’s important to you to comply with the household employment tax laws but we also know it can be overwhelming to do this yourself. We are committed to providing you a simple, cost effective service so you can focus on what’s important to you!

Laura Weiland – President

Laura has been helping household employers since 1999 and has owned The Nanny Tax Company since 2012. She has extensive experience in problem solving and navigating the complicated nanny tax process and is focused on providing clients with an outstanding, cost effective service.

Through the years Laura has dealt with numerous governmental agencies and worked through complicated issues for clients. Her goal is to simplify the process for each client so they can avoid these headaches.

Laura has been quoted in the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune as well as other publications. She has also provided seminars on nanny tax compliance for various groups, including the Woman’s Bar Association of Illinois and the Chicago Latin School.

Laura earned her MBA from DePaul University and BS degrees from Northern Illinois University.

Judy Connolly – Director of Operations

Judy manages the registration of new clients and oversees the client tax preparation processes. Judy has more than 10 years of experience working with state and local authorities as a city planner which helps her when navigating the nanny tax processes and responding to government inquiries. Judy has a great rapport with both our clients and government employees and she has a way of making the whole process run smoothly. Judy joined The Nanny Tax Company in 2008.

Judy earned her Masters in Urban Planning and Policy from University of Illinois Chicago and BA from Northern Illinois University.

Sharon Connolly – Director of Data and Analytics

Sharon oversees the availability and accuracy of all confidential client, tax, and government data. She is always looking for new ways to simplify and streamline our processes so we can be as efficient as possible and keep things easy for our clients. Sharon brings more than 10 years of database management and analysis as well as over 20 years of customer service experience to The Nanny Tax Company. Sharon joined The Nanny Tax Company in 2011.

Sharon earned her BS from Northern Illinois University.

Sheila Connolly – Director of Client Services

Sheila works with clients to manage inquiries and to respond to government notices. An excellent problem solver, Sheila works hard to resolve notices clients receive from government agencies. She keeps the whole process on-schedule according to critical due dates and helps minimize fines and penalties. She brings with her more than 20 years of customer service, inquiry resolution, and process management experience. Sheila joined The Nanny Tax Company in 2012.

Arthur Ellis – Founder

Arthur Ellis founded The Nanny Tax Company in 1995. He is widely recognized as a nanny tax expert and has been quoted in various local and national publications including The New York Times, Crain’s Chicago Business, the Chicago Sun-Times, and Windy City Baby. He has given nanny tax presentations to various organizations including the Chicago Bar Association, the Tax Subcommittee of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, Winston & Strawn, Kirkland and Ellis and the Chicago Latin School.

Although Laura Weiland purchased the company in January of 2012, Arthur continues to support The Nanny Tax Company and give presentations about nanny taxes. If you believe your organization would benefit from a lunch & learn presentation, give us a call.

Arthur earned his JD from Boston University, and his MA and BA from the University of Chicago.

Kodi – Office Dog

Kodi joined the Connolly Clan in May 2012, and started reporting to The Nanny Tax Company shortly thereafter. Kodi is in charge of maintaining office morale and wellness. She asks that you pardon any barking you may hear when calling, as she takes her guard dog title seriously when any deliveries occur. In her free time, Kodi likes to look out the window and investigate any noises.
